Bequest

By leaving us a gift in your will, you are effectively making a statement about the values and ideals that are important to you. A bequest to Sunflower House is a lasting gift that provides you with the opportunity to play an active role in the ongoing care of the Wagga Wagga community. A bequest is the gift of a lifetime and is a wonderful way of extending your help and touching future generations in a special way.

Help us plan our future work and continue our mission

Your gift helps us to continue to support the mental health and wellbeing of people and families in this region. Including our organisation in your will is simple, and if you have already written your will, a codicil can be added to it.

Gifts can include personal assets such as shares, cash, property or a percentage of your estate, and can be donated in a variety of ways depending on your preference.

How to leave a bequest to Sunflower House

You need to have a valid Will which sets out your wishes to donate to Sunflower House. To do this, you need to:

  • We suggest that you use a solicitor or a Trustee Company when making your Will. This need not be expensive and will ensure that your Will is correctly drawn.

  • Work out the value of your estate (property, money possessions, less any outstanding mortgages and debts).

  • Decide whom you want to benefit from your Will.

  • Choose someone to be the Executor of your Will.

  • Write your Will.

  • Once you are happy with your Will, it must be signed by you and witnessed by two independent adults in your presence and in the presence of each other. It is important that your Will is correctly signed and witnessed by people who are not an interested party.

  • If your Solicitor holds the original of your Will, ensure you receive a copy. You should always inform your Executor where the original Will is kept.

Your solicitor should be able to give you clear advice on any tax issues arising out of a bequest.
