Mission Statement

We deliver a professional support service for people living with mental health challenges, assisting them to maintain and develop their life skills and healthy relationships. Our members can meet and take part in activities that provide the necessary life skills needed for their mental health journey in a safe, non­judgmental environment.

We deliver our mission in the following ways.

✓ Recruit 'best in class', qualified professional staff and suitable support workers

✓ Provide face to face (one - one) sessions addressing strategies with members that will increase their day to day coping skills and resilience

✓ Facilitate centre-based activities for members to develop skills and confidence in interacting with others and to receive support from peers and workers with lived experience

✓ Facilitate life skills development programs, preparing members for an empowered life enriched by participation within their community

✓ Develop and maintain strong community partnerships with local community organisations to provide members with opportunities to participate in activities in a volunteering capacity or employment opportunities when available

✓ Assist eligible members transition to NDIS funding

o Assist with preparing appropriate paperwork

o Obtaining medical support references

o Attend medical appointments and advocating for members to obtain the appropriate support documentation when required

✓ Maintain strong relationships with Plan Managers and Support Coordinators associated with the NDIS to ensure Sunflower House members receive optimal access to our programs

✓ Advocate for our members funded by the NDIS to ensure they are receiving the appropriate elements of their package

✓ Develop effective pathways of support for members for referral to established community organisations and mental health professionals

✓ Maintain strong networks with the MLHD & MPHN such as the 'MPHN Alliance'

✓ Work effectively with Federal and State governments to obtain appropriate funding for non-eligible NDIS members
